A brightly lit promotional portrait of Miami DJ Jesse Perez seated indoors next to a sunlit window. The musician is framed from the chest up, looking directly at the camera with one hand raised, resting lightly near their prominent, styled curled mustache and full dark beard. They are wearing a black baseball cap featuring a small square logo, a classic blue denim jacket layered over a grey hoodie, a plain white t-shirt, and a thin gold chain necklace. In the softly blurred foreground, an open magazine rests on a white table. The background features bright natural daylight streaming in, illuminating a clear glass hanging pendant light with an Edison-style bulb visible on the left side of the frame.

The Serious Soul camp always leans heavy into house, but this weekend invites some Miami bass and hip-hop into the mix thanks to Jesse Perez.

The founder of Mr. Nice Guy records famous for his pulsating, MPC-driven breakout song “What You Say About My Momma” has remixed many including Dom Dolla, Duke Dumont and even California funk band War; this weekend he joins staples on the Bay area dance scene for another sweaty show in the Nest.

Tickets to see Jesse Perez play The Nest at St. Pete Brewing Co. on Saturday, July 18 are still available and start at $24.80 & up.

Pitch in to help make the Tampa Bay Journalism Project a success.
