Chief engineer: Jody Gray
Amid the sprawling industrial hellscape in east-central St. Pete, ProStar is a beacon for a diverse range of musicians at every career level. The walls are plastered with rock memorabilia of bands that have recorded or performed there (the space doubles as an 80-seat venue with a sound stage), as well as ones that haven’t.

Despite the impressive credentials, said studio co-owner Jeanette Goldman, he put the nervous sound engineer at ease, though he could have picked a better lunch option: “He ate tuna fish from a can…which stunk up the engineer room, smelled like low tide on a hot Florida day.”
Client roster: Unbroken, Sarasota Slim, Go-Gos, Jack Douglas, the New Rascals, Tyler Dickerson, Shades of Twilight, Ocean, The Mojo Gurus
