Comin' Around Again
Legendary funk wildman George Clinton makes his second stop in the Bay area – in '05.

Conventional concert-biz wisdom says you don't book an act into the same market more than once a year, but Clinton would seem resistant to that. His deep-groove free-for-alls are so extemporaneous that you'd never feel as if you were getting the same show from a couple months back. Expect long jams, some singing and some rapping, musicians in silly stage gear (inevitably there'll be a guy wearing nothing but Depends), rowdy shout-alongs, and blissed-out crowd members boppin' to the beat. It's good for the soul, yo. Oh, and Clinton will likely be soliciting herbal gifts from the stage – just like he did at his recent Jannus Landing show.

George Clinton & the P-Funk All-Stars, Thurs. April 21, doors 7 p.m., State Theatre, St. Petersburg, $25 advance/$28 day of show.
