In person, this show is one of the warmest parts of the local music holiday, but alas *gestures at the entire world.*
Still, jazz guitarist Nate Najar presents a virtual and festive Jazz Holiday this year, filmed at Palladium Theater’s Hough Hall and available to watch for 48 hours.
A plethora of talent joins Najar’s Trio, with members Joe Porter and Jean Bolduc, including Brazilian singer Daniela Soledade (pictured), Adrian Cunningham playing saxophone and clarinet, James Suggs on trumpet and cellist Yves Dharamraj. The Brazilian songwriter and singer Soledade recently released an orchestral version of the “Sound of Music” holiday classic “My Favorite Things,” and it’s more relaxing than a field of poppies, so expect that to make an appearance.
Though Palladium had a brief couple of weeks with live shows, Executive Director Paul Wilborn—a local venue owner committed to truly keeping patrons safe—decided to go online again after last month’s COVID-19 spikes. In a state where folks at the top can’t seem to safely regulate reopening and assisting local businesses through shutdowns, Wilborn’s move to be cautious should be rewarded.
