And just like that, we're almost at the half-way point of 2016. The balmy summer seems to have arrived, so if you're sitting poolside or hanging at the beach, the Weekly Tune-Up always makes a great sidekick. Let's check out some of this week's highlights now.

Band of Horses is back and damn, it feels good to type that. I've been a long time follower of the Southern indie-rockers and the group just released the first single off their newly-announced album, Why Are You Ok, due out in June. "Casual Party" is classic jam that isn't here to wow you, but should definitely please you. Ben Bridwell's vocals are always a treat to hear.

UK post-punk outfit Wire has also returned with a new mini-album called Nocturnal Koreans. Wire is considered a key player in the post-punk movement and they prove they still have it with "Internal Exile"; the '80s-style guitar and synth work are the highlights here. I'd recommend you give Nocturnal Koreans a spin.

Drake has been on the grind and discovered fresh talent for his record label in DVSN, a Toronto-based down-tempo R&B group with '90s-era persuasions. Their debut, SEPT 5TH, dropped a few weeks back, aiming to please with dark, sexy slow jams and some steamy lyrical content. The production and perfectly-crafted beats are what I noticed at first listen. Not much like the current crop of R&B artists on the radio, and that's just what we needed.

Closing out the this week's Tune-Up is a smooth albeit mildly trippy track from Snarky Puppy. "Beep Box" comes off their newly released LP, Culcha Vulcha. Though it changes pace a few times, the tune leaves your head bobbing and thoughts churning.
