Baths, Obsidian (Anticon)
Singer, musician and electronic music producer Will Wiesenfeld is Baths, his ambient to mid-tempo glitch-studded electro rock compositions informed by his classical roots. Album number two came after a debilitating case of E. coli that left Wiesenfeld completely bedridden, starving, useless – or so he felt. He used his pent-up frustrations to fuel his sophomore album, Obsidian, which has been getting across the board rave reviews from Pitchfork, AllMusic and others. For fans of Radiohead…. Brandon Boyd, Compass EP (Self-Release)
The frontman of Incubus presents a four-song guitar-and-piano-driven EP co-written and recorded with longtime Incubus producer Brendan O'Brien (Pearl Jam, The Killers, Rage Against the Machine); recording draws on the sounds of 1960s and '70s rock, was influenced by songwriting greats like The Beach Boys and Harry Nilsson while also reflecting current psych rock trends of today, and is a taste of what's to come in a forthcoming full-length, Son of the Sea. The album will be released this fall concurrently with his third book of paintings, ‘So The Echo’. "Space and Time" lyric video after the jump along with the rest of this week's new releases…
