Butt-rock, back the blue, and bulls all come together in Tampa next spring—all for the Hondo Rodeo.

The series places elite rodeo athletes in stadiums across three cities over the next few months—Phoenix (November), Tampa (February) and New Orleans (April)—as they compete for their slice of a $1 million purse.

Each stop also includes a series of concerts by country and rock acts like Tim McGraw and Blake Shelton. The Tampa stop of the Hondo Rodeo includes headlining sets by the world’s foremost butt-rock band Nickelback, country dude Jason Aldean, and songwriter Cody Johnson.

Johnson, 39, is actually a former bull-rider, while Aldean has been riding a wave of anti-Black Lives Matter protest energy since releasing “Try That In A Small Town.” That 2023 single finds the 49-year-old big-upping “good ol’ boys raised up right” while threatening folks protesting against police. Wait until he hears about the Republican-led Florida ballot initiative that could defund the police.

Other acts appearing at Raymond James Stadium include songwriter Jon Pardi along with “western space grunge” band Dexter & the Moonrocks, and The Red Clay Strays.

The Hondo Rodeo includes a no-cover street festival, the ticketed rodeo, and ticketed concerts.

Ticket prices for the Hondo Rodeo coming to Raymond James Stadium Friday-Sunday, Feb. 26-28 have not yet been announced.
