Dance music pioneer Nile Rodgers is bringing CHIC to St. Petersburg. The iconic outfit has booked a January 18 date at Mahaffey Theater, and tickets go on sale Monday, December 3 at 10 a.m. EST.
Admission will run $49.50-$99.50, and a press release says that Mahaffey members will be able to start buying tickets at 10 a.m. on Friday, November 30 (that’s today).
CHIC just released its first LP in 26 years, It’s About Time, which found the band working with a laundry list of top-of-the-pop-charts talent including Lady Gaga, Vic Mensa, Craig David, Teddy Riley, Elton John and more.
“It started out as a real love letter to the people that have helped me get to where I am now,” Rogers — who is opening for Cher at Orlando’s Amway Center on January 21 — told Rolling Stone in an interview about the record.
“But what it wound up being was a snapshot of my life. It turned from me saying thank you to the people who changed my life, to me saying thank you to the [collaborators] who are in my life. So I did an album that’s a reflection of my life.”
