If you didn’t catch Lakeland songwriter Noan Partly at Gasparilla Music Festival (pictured), check the banjo and guitar-playing vocalist out Friday night at Ella’s Americana Folk Art Cafe in Seminole Heights (you know, without that brutal October Florida sun damaging your skin). Drummer Jason Stander and bassist Marcos Garcia make Noan’s operation a trio, and together they play “jazzy indie-folk with Midwest roots.”
Also at the Seminole Heights hot spot this weekend is jazz and funk outfit Jackson Harpe Collective playing a 3 p.m. Soul Food Sunday set (FYI, Harpe—a host on WUSF’s All Night Jazz—plays the trumpet not the stringed angelic instrument). Reservations are suggested for both free shows, and more information is at ellasfolkartcafe.com.
