After sorting through entries from across the east coast, James Knox — aka King Knoxygen — has selected the four DJs who'll compete for $1,500 and other prizes as part of the finale to his Obknoxious birthday weekend (other highlights include a Friday-night show with Kanye West collaborator Cyhi the Prynce).

The DJ competion will happen on Sunday, August 26 at Franklin Manor in downtown Tampa, and competitors include Tampa Bay's own Jake Dela Cruz, Orlando's DJ Philo, Rocket Jackson from New York and South Carolina's DJ Rehab.

"They showed us what we were looking for," Knox told CL. "Their sets were Obknoxious. Let's see if they can bring that same energy to the finals."

Also up for grabs along with the cash is an Obnoxious survival bag which includes a Jetpack DJ bag, Obknoxious slipmats, records, headphone case, a one-year subscription to Club Killers DJ pool, a one-year subscription to Late Night Record Pool and DJ Ragoza edit packs.

Ragoza will be one of four judges alongside DJ Ku, DJ Deville and DJ Wonder. The judges will see competitors each work through 10-minute sets before Tampa's DJ Qeys plays a set while judges deliberate over the DJs' creativity, technical ability, selection and crowd response.

"You show up, give us your best 10 minutes, and we keep it moving," Knox said. "I know it's different, but I liked the idea. It's Obknoxious, yessir."
