A promotional electronic press kit photograph showing a cropped photo of the band DOOM GONG. Captured in a centered group photo against a dimly lit venue background, seven members of Louisville "denim psych" rock outfit DOOM GONG pose together wearing matching blue denim jackets over graphic shirts. In the back row, four band members smile alongside one another, with the member on the far right pointing directly toward the camera wearing a red-and-white patterned headband; in the front row, three members crouch shoulder-to-shoulder, set under warm ambient overhead lighting with a slight vintage film grain effect.

Over the last two months, Doom Gong has been on the road playing its weird AF brand of proggy-experimental psych-jazz.

On albums like last year’s Megagong (stylized all-caps), the band weaves together Mellotron, more synth, horns and traditional keys with percussion of all stripes and vocals that are less lyrical and more like yet another instrument in the arsenal.

Traveling as a septet, the Kentucky band is at the end of the road and supported in Tampa by homegrown jazz outfit Chaunces (led by oddball genius drummer Chance Reynolds).

Tickets to see Doom Gong and Chaunces at Magnanimous Brewing in Tampa on Thursday, Nov. 5 are still available and start at $23.
