Ohio Americana band Red Wanting Blue plays Skipper’s Tampa on Friday

Columbus-based Americana quintet Red Wanting Blue played the Orpheum in January 2020, before we could even dream of the venue moving out of Ybor City.

One pandemic later, Scott Terry and friends are changing gears, and taking on an outdoor, larger scale crowd at Skipper’s Smokehouse in north Tampa.

During the height of the pandemic, the band put out The Peppermint Sessions, which features horn and string sections, as well as re-recordings of a few tracks from 2018’s The Wanting–all recorded fully analog. Supporting Red Wanting Blue is Atlanta-bred country singer-songwriter Carly Burruss, and Tom Petty-inspired band Andrew Leahy & The Homestead.
