Remember that time Mos Def and Talib Kweli showed up at Ol’ Dirty Sundays after a Straz Center show and hopped on the decks? How about that time Z-Trip mashed-up for four hours on the back patio? Or when Maseo DJed the day after De La Soul performed at GMF? And when Prince Paul hit the turntables? How about Ghostface Killah and Adrian Younge just showing up after their Orpheum show?
We can go on, and on, because for the last 10 years Ol’ Dirty Sundays has been the go-to hip hop courtyard party where on a regular night you’d see the best emcees and DJs of Tampa Bay and, on many occasions, legends just dropping in (or performing) all while a breakdancing cypher unfolds on the cement.
Canadian DJ and three-time Scribble Jam winner Skratch Bastid is back this weekend to help the founding crew, DJs Casper and Fader, commemorate the decade-long flyest night in town. Host Young Deacon and performances from Mike Mass and Junkyrd fill out the 21 and up night. Thank Big Baby Jesus most of you have Monday off.
