The usual one-man band Lauris Vidal is getting professional back up for his show at Ella’s Americana Folk Art Cafe, and we have drummer Thundafist, aka Billy Dean, to thank for that. Before being stuck at home on Florida’s east coast since the pandemic started, Dean played with the Grammy-nominated blues band Victor Wainwright and the Train since 2010.

“We used to play together years ago, so this is going to be a reunion of sorts,” Vidal told Creative Loafing Tampa. If the show is anything like this spotlight video, there’s going to be some magical stick work happening. Per usual, Ella’s shows are limited capacity and masks are required.
