Arthur Shea is opening for Amen Dunes in Orlando on Monday night, but Tampa-based DIY promoter Pocket Sand just scored a one-off show from the Philadelphia weirdo-pop genius who performs under the Arthur moniker.
The show — where Tampa bands Charles Irwin and mtvh1n1 open — is happening on Jan. 22 at Mojo Books & Records. Donations will be collected, and you better tip the barista, too.
Pocket Sands' Tim Anderson is friends with some of Shea's band, so he called guitarist Kieran Ferris and slapped this show together when he found out that Arthur's Gainesville show got dropped.
Fans of bands like Joy Again, Forever Lesbians, Pet and Blue Smiley will be hyped, but the rest of you still wondering what the big deal is can sample "Ivy League" from Arthur's debut LP of quirky, bizarre and joyous sounds (Woof Woof, released in the fall) below.
Arthur w/mtvh1n1/Charles Irwin. Tues. Jan. 22, 8 p.m. Donations accepted. INFO.
