New Granada Presents hosted a fine Friday evening of indie rock featuring The Tape Delay, Slow Claw and The Tenant at New World Brewery this past Friday, September 18.

Tape Delay

Tampa's Tape Delay melds the essence of '90s melodic hardcore bands like Braid and Mineral, their music given a modern twist into something more scintillating. Formerly an instrumental band that  now features the addition of Aaron as a lead vocalist, Tape Delay is moving to a parallel universe. I look forward to seeing this new amalgamation develop hopefully with more frequent shows.

Tape Delay is Dustin (Guitar), Jeremy (Bass), John (Guitar), Mike (Drums) and Aaron (Vocals)

Slow Claw

Passing out a myriad of rhythm instruments to unsuspecting audience members after assembling your drums in New World's spectator space is a risky endeavor during a live set. Slow Claw was up to the challenge. Initial confusion quickly turned into enthusiastic participation. One thing is certain: Slow Claw are the definition of creative, both live and on record. Their debut release, Grandfather Clocks, is a solid effort of indie pop songs with unusual timing. I can't wait to see what Slow Claw has up their sleeve next!

Slow Claw is Rob Barnes (Vocals, Guitar), Brian Miller (Bass), and Chris Denholm (Drums)

Sadly, I missed the Tampa debut of The Tenant (ex-Summerbirds in the Cellar). Rumor is the set was short but promising. I hope to catch them soon!
