Ringo Starr is no stranger to Clearwater, but he got to do something new in the city tonight when he brought the 15th edition of his All-Starr Band—featuring Toto’s Steve Lukather, Men At Work’s Colin Hay, Average White Band’s Hamish Stuart, and Woodstock keyboard whiz Edgar Winter, plus saxophonist Warren Ham, and drummer Gregg Bissonette—to downtown’s new venue, The Sound.
“First time in this gig,” he said, before acknowledging how much he liked it. The Beatle also teased the crowd by mentioning a “new venue, new setlist” idea, where he let Lukather pick a song, but it turned out to just be his regular schtick of teasing “Day Tripper” and “Please Please Me” before playing “Yellow Submarine” on his acoustic guitar
