This year marks 40 years since Jim Heath first picked up the moniker heโd eventually share with his soon-to-be psychobilly trio. Needless to say, Reverend Horton Heat‘s evolution is inevitable for a genreโespecially psychedelic strainsโand while the Heat contributes to it, thereโs also plenty of representation for the classic, trippy surf-guitar jams that pioneered the genre.
Itโs not a new, half-assed trick up the trioโs sleeve either, which may be why a 2023 rockabilly covers album Roots of the Rev (Volume One) turned out so well.
