Pleasures is easily one of the freakiest, most fun psych-rock acts in Tampa Bay, and there’s always a surprise built into its live set. That’s why it’s fitting that the band tops the bill for this Halloween party at The Bends, which is having the venue's first live event in almost eight months.

Concerts at the shotgun-style St. Petersburg dive are usually jam-packed inside affairs, but for this one, Bends co-founder and co-owner Matt Kaye says he and the crew have installed an outdoor stage and doubled the bar’s outdoor seating so patrons—asked to take part in the “Dead musicians” theme—can take in the set along with DJs for the dance party.

“This is such a weird time,” Kaye told Creative Loafing Tampa Bay, adding that he expects to see some good costumes. “Bowie, Prince, Tupac, Juice WRLD, O.D.B., James Brown. Just to name a few.” Everyone entering The Bends needs a mask, but they’re not required outside (although Kaye is highly and kindly encouraging everyone to wear them and party responsibly).
