Kristopher James has a soulful vocal that’ll turn heads and a personality so sweet that you’ll wish he was your daddy.

The Bay area songwriter has been able to keep his band intact for some time now, and while the group is well-oiled and firing hot, James spends an afternoon this weekend at the Independent Bar & Grill launching a no-cover, monthly Seminole Heights concert series with plans to bring along members of that band, but also various special guests and musicians traveling through Tampa Bay.

There’s no cover to attend the first installment of James’ “Extravaganza” series at the Independent Bar and Cafe ( 5016 N Florida Ave., Tampa) on Sunday, Jan. 21.
