Last night, Ybor City kicked off their annual pre-game warm up for The Fest in Gainesville by throwing their mini version, Big Pre-Fest in Little Ybor, a two day, multi-venue festival that stages some of the best punk-rock outfits both nationally and internationally.

Boasting a lineup featuring the likes of Off With Their Heads, The Flatliners, and Less Than Jake, the Orpheum was the place to be. Minneapolis based, Off With Their Heads, had the crowd charged and chanting, accompanied by the theatrics and playfulness of lead singer Ryan Young, who finished off his performance while being passed atop the hands of the crowd (see above).

Worthy of a stroll over to the other end of the Ybor world at New World Brewery, was a set by Wonk Unit. With a playful set of short energetically charged songs and stage banter poking fun at the higher ups, freeloaders trying to get on a guest list for a $5 DIY show, and his band mates who were “DTF and HSF (horny for sex)” these UK boys were a do not miss.

Also, of note, was a set by San Pedro, California’s, Underground Railroad to Candyland, fueled by two drummers sharing the same kit, a little bit of horn and catchy vocals, who finished their set playfully dancing off the Crowbar stage to Scott Joplin’s “The Entertainer.”

Photos from last night’s shenanigans in Ybor City, Florida have also come out of the proverbial darkroom. Anthony Martino and Brian Mahar have dozens of shots to share, and you can see them all below.

Day two of Pre-Fest is happening right now.
