Somebody has to book these underground shows, right? For the better part of three years — at Tampa Bay and Lakeland venues like coffee shops (The Bunker), VFW halls, American Legions, record stores and booksellers (Steelworker, Mojo) — Tim Anderson has done it about three dozen times. The 26-year-old member of the Pocket Sand Presents collective also plays (or has played in) buzzworthy bands like powerviolence trio SPIT, genre-dodging weirdos MTVH1N1 and even indie-pop outfit Poster (which will premiere its final album with CL in the coming weeks), but some of his greatest contributions to the scene have been the out-of-town bands he’s brought to our doorsteps.

“I’ve always been into music and it has been the only thing I’ve stuck with for this long,” Anderson told CL. He took his first piano lessons at age 10, picked up guitar at 12, and played tenor sax and baritone in the school band before farting around with drums in high school, but does hope to put out more good music in the years to come.
“It would be cool if I could live off of it,” Anderson said, “but realistically it’s all life experience and memories.”
