Whether you knew Ross Lynch as a fifth of R5, or spent your adolescence gaga over him in “Teen Beach Movie,” the 29-year-old and his brother Rocky’s newish pop-rock project The Driver Era has unveiled a handful of tracks for its upcoming fourth album.

The new band came about just as R5 went on hiatus last decade, and if its new album is anything like the six songs already out, Obsession will have plenty of ‘80s synth-and-guitar vibes, confessions, and even a few producing credits from the Lynch boys. This showdown at USF is Ross and Rocky’s second-ever gig in Tampa Bay, with the first one taking place when R5 was still together, down at Clearwater’s Ruth Eckerd Hall in 2015.

Tickets to see The Driver Era play Yuengling Center in Tampa on Saturday, March 8 are still available and start at $24.75.
