Gat damn, here's something to rap about. Gary, Indiana-born rapper Freddie Gibbs is bringing his 2021 tour to Tampa this fall.

Tickets to see Freddie Gibbs play The Ritz in Ybor City, Florida on Nov. 4, 2021 are on sale today and start at $35 for general admission. Bottle service will be available, too.

And if you’re wondering how Gibbs—touring behind Alfredo, his Grammy-nominated 2020 LP with The Alchemist—came to book a rare Tampa concert, look no further than Plant High School.

Taylor Flom, with Tampa promoter Fwd Thinkers (stylized "FWDThinkers") which is putting the show on with Alliance, said the show was made possible by Gibbs’ friendship with Plant grad and former NFL wide receiver Mike Williams, who played at the University of California, and spent his offseasons in Los Angeles where Gibbs makes his home.

“He and Freddie became friends before any of the success. Mike and Freddie both have larger than life personalities so it makes sense they are so close,” Flom, whose dad coached at Plant, told Creative Loafing Tampa Bay. “Mike is my best friend from high school. Someone who always looked out for me and steered me in the right direction.”

Big Boss Rabbit, for real.
