Pray to the rain gods that next Thursday’s Rock the Park (RTP) stays dry because, per usual, the lineup is as diverse as it is stellar.
Singer Gabriel Sanchez’s entrancing vocal powerfully leads the melancholic rock of Modern rockers Hope Darling (which was named a “national breakout band” by Touchtunes, the company that runs those newfangled modern touchscreen jukeboxes at your local pool hall). Emcees Psych Montano and Albert J are straight off their collaboration album Mansion Music, which plays like perfect hype music for going to RTPand just life in general; that whole album is impressive, from the rhymes to the Wave Theory production.
Songwriter Leon Majcen rounds out the night, and we’re hoping to hear his John Prine tribute “World Gone By” at the family and pet-friendly gig.
