The tunes on Fides’ 2016 album, Across The Yard, can switch between slow-burning and melancholic (the title track), hair-raisingly joyous (“Blown Out”) and straight-up anthemic (“Broken”). It’s all just perfect for fans of indie rockers like David Bazan and even The Strokes’ Julian Casablancas. On Thursday, the Mississippi-based quartet brings another Magnolia State act (songwriter Schaefer Llana) to St. Pete for a show alongside hometown boys Empire Cinema, who are playing shows in support of the band’s own self-titled debut released just this year.
