Seminole Heights’ revered indie-bar turns 14 this weekend with some rock (Four Star Riot plays on Sunday), but kicks the festivities off on Friday with some twang, care of Urbane Cowboys, which loves it some Whiskeytown, Social Distortion and even Hank Sr. The party—no cover, mind you—continues on Saturday with jazz from Berklee-educated guitarist Scott Murley.

On Sunday, Four Star Riot—fresh off of a new album, Modern Living—is set to stage its first gig since release day. The band’s six-track, guitar-loaded album—its first release since 2018—laments how constant adversities in 2023 are beyond capable of putting a damper on even your dream career (“Wrapped Up”), as well as a title track consisting of wishful thinking about social media and news coverage not having such a central presence.

There’s no cover for the free anniversary concerts happening Friday-Sunday, Oct. 6-8 at Independent Bar & Cafe in Tampa.
