James Dewitt Yancey died nearly two decades ago, but his outsized influence on hip-hop is still a hallmark of the genre’s most forward-thinking groups.

For this Seminole Heights, no-cover tribute to the icon best known as J Dilla, Bay area DJs will spin his records, songs he sampled, and the music his brilliant mind borne—all while Hampton Station slings some of the best pizza and beer in town.

There’s no cover for Jay Day: A Tribute to J Dilla happening on Wednesday, Feb. 7 at Hampton Station in Tampa.
