Captured in a medium close-up shot, rock musician Alice Cooper sings into a microphone held in his right hand clad in a black leather glove. He wears a black top hat adorned with a silver emblem, dark eye makeup, a black ruffled shirt decorated with military-style medal ribbons and lapel pins, and a beaded necklace under dramatic, high-contrast stage lighting.

More than 40 years after his solo debut, with more than 50 million records sold, Alice Cooper can now say he’s a best-selling author, too.

That’s because a new memoir, “Devil On My Shoulder” landed at No. 1 on the U.K.’s Sunday Times non-fiction best-seller list (this week it was No. 4 on the New York Times’ list). The work even got a Kirkus Review, where critics lauded how the 78-year-old shock rock pioneer sheds light on both his stage persona and Vince Furnier, the golf-club wielding every man.

His Alice’s Attic Tour—coming to Ruth Eckerd Hall this month—spans nearly two dozen songs that cover his entire career, including deep cuts and his latest LP, last year’s The Revenge of Alice Cooper.

Tickets to see Alice Cooper at Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater on Tuesday, Oct. 27 are still available and start at $79.
