Tommy James & the Shondells, a pioneer in the 1960s psychedelic-rock scene, have been covered by Joan Jett, Billy Idol, and Tiffany, and parodied by โ€œWeird Alโ€ Yankovic twice.

The 75-year-old Dayton boy has spent the last few years rerecording the songs that put him on the map in the first place, and regularly performing on cruises and in small venues.

A Tampa Bay date is pretty rare for Mr. โ€œCrimson and Clover,โ€ but before For King & Country takes the stage next Thursday night, March 9โ€”for which he will probably be in the crowdโ€”James and the Shondells circa 2023 will perform its second-ever Florida Strawberry Festival, the first one being in 2020, less than a month than everyone would be locked down at home.

Tickets to see Tommy James & the Shondells play the 3:30 show next Thursday, March 9 at the Florida Strawberry Festival are still available for $35, in addition to admission at the gate.
