Last May, Magadog frontman Ed Lowery was to make a triumphant return to the stage as part of an old-school ska show in St. Pete. The revered Tampa musician didn’t make it though, as he was in too much pain from the stage three colon cancer in his body.

This weekend, the scene that loves him comes together for a fundraiser to help with medical expenses. Despite having three drains removing fluids after a pancreaticoduodenectomy, Lowery has remained upbeat and promises to be at the Skipperdome to say thanks.

The bill includes bands featuring members of Lowery’s old band Magadog (The Brainiacs) along with rhythm-and-rockabilly band Swamp Poney, plus punk outfit The Abortion Twins, songwriter Todd Murphy, slide guitar band Los Mescalitos and more.

It’s a $20 suggested donation for Ed Palooza happening at Skipper’s Smokehouse in Tampa on Saturday, Nov. 8.
