Skipper's Smokehouse wraps its 28th anniversary with a "local music extravagonzo" that lives up to its moniker. Co-presented by Creative Loafing, the roster features power trio Hat Trick Heroes, three highly talented young men who throw down a crunchy cross between classic rock and vintage grunge, winning the band an Editors' Pick Best of the Bay for Best Hard Rock Single ("Chasing My Tail") at our Tampa Theatre awards bash that went down last week. The lineup also includes Best New Band winner Tailgunner Joe and the Earls of Slander — a rowdy roots-rock quartet with punk fringes — and the Jeremy Thomas-led Basic Rock Outfit, which won in the Readers' Poll for Best Local Band, Best Local Alt-rock Act and a few others. Note the early start time of 5 p.m.
