It’s been pretty much exactly 10 years since Titus Glover (aka Batin) passed away at the age of 35, and you can bet that the memory of the rapper will be on the minds of the surviving members of legendary hip-hop group Slum Village when it headlines Symphonic Distribution’s annual summertime concert (Slum Village was also the home of a teenage J Dilla before he went on to change the course of hip-hop and jazz before his own untimely death in 2006).

There are a few familiar faces on the 2019 Vibes bill, but we’re excited to see some newcomers — especially Tampa rapper Stoney Hoop, who just released his Local Stranger EP — hit the Vibes stage for the first time. It’s a good idea to RSVP for free admission since cover at the door is $10.

Vibes of the Bay w/Slum Village/King Complex/Mike Mass/Sam E. Hues/Stoney Hoop/Ari Chi/Louis Junior/Betty Dawl/Jon Ditty/Mouth Council/Gat$. Sat. Aug. 17, 4 p.m. Free with registration ($10 at the door). Crowbar, Ybor City. symphonicdistribution.com.
