Spyro Gyra probably pissed off the last of its fans by recording an all covers album in 2019, but the jazz fusion outfit never seemed to give much of a damn about what people thought of it.

“My hope is that our music has the same effect on the audience that it does on me,” group leader Jay Beckenstein said in a release.

Spyro Gyra has plans to be in front of an audience next spring when it plays Clearwater’s Bilheimer Capitol Theatre on February 23 October 21.

On Jan. 6, this show was postponed. From The Cap: "The Nancy and David Bilheimer Capitol Theatre announces that the Spyro Gyra concert on Tuesday, February 23 at 8 pm has been rescheduled. Tickets will be honored on the new date, Saturday, October 21, 2021 at 8pm. Tickets are on sale now. "

Tickets to see Beckenstein & co. play Clearwater’s Bilheimer Capitol Theatre go on sale Fri. July 10 at 10 a.m. EDT and start at $35.

And when it comes to COVID-19 regulations, Susan Crockett, Ruth Eckerd Hall's President and CEO, recently told Creative Loafing Tampa Bay that, since her venues have no way of knowing what restrictions may be in place months from now, "we are certainly looking at options to adapt under different scenarios and that will depend on the show itself and the size of the audience."
