St. Pete record store Daddy Kool is moving around the corner into the art and retail space The Factory, 2622 Fairfield Ave. S–a goal that’s been set for a while.

"It was the plan all along to move into this new space once it was ready for us," Maggie Cassidy, Daddy Kool’s social media manager said, "We knew that's where we were going to end up the day we moved into our current location."

Daddy Kool started in Bradenton in 1985 but has been in Pinellas since 1999, most of the time spent at 666 Central Ave. until the 2019 move to the current space at 2430 Terminal Drive.

The move keeps Daddy Kool in the Warehouse Arts District and in a space that they share with some friends.

“Other amazing local businesses will be joining us at The Factory, some of which we've collabed with in the past,” Cassidy said. One of those businesses is Black Crow Coffee which made a special coffee blend for the record shop. 15,000 square-foot Immersive art experience Fairgrounds is also set to open in the space this year.

Daddy Kool is going out with a bang–the last day at the current location is June 12 which coincides with the first Record Store Day drop. (If you’re trying to get in for RSD, all shopping appointments are full but the shop is accepting walk-ins starting at 9:45 a.m.)

Wasting no time, Daddy Kool hopes to be opened on Thursday, June 17 at The Factory.
