May 6 marks 60 years since St. Peteโ€™s Mahaffey Theater first opened its doors.

Since that day in 1965, the roomโ€”once described by Elvis Costello as a palaceโ€”has hosted legends like Frank Sinatra and Van Halen, Bob Dylanโ€™s Rolling Thunder Revue, and even the 1996 vice presidential debate.

Three days before the big 6-0, the Mahaffey will host the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame outfit Cheap Trick featuring Safety Harbor resident Robin Zander and his son Robin Taylor. The bandโ€™s โ€œno two setlists are the sameโ€ policy is still in place, so do your homework, but still expect to be surprised on Saturday night.

Tickets to see Cheap Trick play Duke Energy Center for the Arts at Mahaffey Theater on Saturday, May 3 are still available and start at $46.50.
