Sting and a three-piece band are coming to play alongside the Florida Orchestra for its 50th anniversary, and about 2,000 people are going to be pretty happy about getting tickets to see the superstar play 90-minutes of hits at St. Pete's Mahaffey Theater.
Tickets for the December 9 show — which features musical arrangements supervised by Rob Mathes (Bruce Springsteen, Renée Fleming, more) — go on sale to the general public on October 2. They'll run fans anywhere from $75 to $450 (select premium seats ain't cheap y'all!). Some people will even dole out even more dough to attend a post-concert dinner (catered by James Beard Award semifinalist Chris Ponte) with Sting.
UPDATE: Due to popular demand, the Florida Orchestra had to adjust its ticketing policy. October 2 is the general on-sale, and new details are available here.
UPDATE 2: Tickets sold out even quicker than we imagined. Go send a message in a bottle or something.
Orchestra subscribers will get first crack on September 25, but all proceeds will benefit the orchestra’s community and education programs as well as TFO’s artistic initiatives.
“We have a true world star coming to make music with The Florida Orchestra,” Orchestra music director Michael Francis said in a press release.“Sting is not just a rock star. He’s a deep, comprehensive artist who is constantly re-examining the world around him.”
