Sleep’s new album, The Sciences, is what happens when Black Sabbath devotees quit taking acid and decide to comeback with their first LP in almost 20 years. Surprise released on April 20, the album is an indica-fueled metal meditation that’s as satisfying as a long, slow bong rip, and it’s an effort that’s earning the band a lot of new fans thanks to its release on Jack White’s Third Man Records imprint.
That success is probably why this show is at The Ritz, and you’d be stupid to let your high keep you from getting to Ybor early for a set from Big Business, which is touring in support of its own, heavy new album (The Beast You Are) wherein the Seattle-based duo delivers big bass riffs and even even bigger drums hits.
Sleep w/Big Business. Mon., June 17, 7 p.m.. $30 & up. The Ritz, Ybor City. ticketfly.com.
