Superchunk, Titus Andronicus & New Bruises: SPOT 18th Anniversary Party

Superchunk turned out to be a stellar choice for the Skate Park of Tampa's 18th Anniversary Party at Czar, Ybor City (in conjunction with the Tampa Am), bringing people out of the woodwork to celebrate SPOT and the re-emergence of one of THE '90s indie rock bands. Especially because Superchunk was the band that most of the attendees loved when they actually were 18. Introducing the bands were Skate Park of Tampa's Ryan Clements and Brian Schaefer… it is impressive how Skate Park of Tampa has grown up to be a world renowned phenomenon – kudos!

Bassist Laura Ballance remarked that the band loves coming to Florida as they feel appreciated here. The feeling was definitely mutual as their set was essentially a mutual appreciation society between Superchunk and the crowd.

Superchunk is Mac McCaughan (singer/guitarist), Jim Wilbur (guitarist), Laura Ballance (bassist) and Jon Wurster (drummer)

Superchunk played a FULL set that comprised 15 songs (setlist here) before their encore, which included a cover of Sebadoh's "Brand New Love" (sadly not Bad Brains as teased by Mac McCaughan and Jim Wilbur during on-stage banter). One thing is certain, Mac McCaughan sure can JUMP!
