Last weekend saw Permanent Makeup’s Chris Nadeau warm up for this show with a new project Work Stress, and fans of loud and righteous rock should get to Hooch and Hive early this Sunday to see the peace-punk band open this gig. Definitely buckle in for a headlining set from Clang!, too. The Tampa band is making its live return and still rightfully riding high on its absolutely crushing, messy-clean, Shellac-loving 2019 release Whac-A-Mole.

Clang!’s original three members—guitarist Brian Shields, bassist Emily Jones and drummer Andrew Goding—are back and promise to bring friends along for future shows, but will play both Mole material and new stuff written after quarantine at this one. “The new songs are somewhat similar to the old stuff, but more streamlined. More straight to the point,” Shields told Creative Loafing Tampa Bay.

Like many shows in the Bay area these days—and you should be checking before heading out—this one requires a proof of negative COVID-19 test from 72 hours before doors, or proof of vaccination instead.
