Tampa Bay Beat Weekend keeps soldiering on.

After tapping Orlando producer Henry Daher (G-Eazy) and Grammy-winning music maker Chase N. Cashe (Drake) for talks in 2017 and 2018, respectively, the producers summit is returning, bigger than ever, for yet another run in historic Ybor City. Beat Week 2019 will take place from June 7-9 when organizers welcome producers from across the region for free and paid admission masterclasses, beat battles and concerts featuring both local stars and names that liner notes nerds adore.

The action kicks off on June 7 with a launch party at Lot 1901 where Big Baby Scumbag, Icytwat, Cherele and more will appear. A secret pop-up with Omar Walker (aka Major 7, who’s worked with Rick Ross, Jay-Z, Future and Rihanna) is set for June 8 before the party moves to Crowbar for a $1000 beat battle judged by St. Louis producer ChaseTheMoney whose name appears in the credits of songs by J. Cole., Vallee and Ski Mask the Slump God.

The learning happens on Sunday, June 9 during a full day at The Bricks where highlights include an AutoTune master class from E on the Boards (sound engineer for Future) and a publishing workshop with industry consultant Lamont Graves (Dababy). Atlanta’s STLNDRMS, DJ Swift, Gitt Fai and more are also scheduled to drop knowledge on June 9.

Tampa Bay Beat Weekend co-founder Kenna Sullivan told CL that the last three years have involved Beat Weekend building a team and trying to figure out the tricky equation of scheduling a successful producers summit.

“Booking is crazy because there is no tour data for stuff like that,” he said about the process of curating a weekend that’s built around the behind-the-scenes music makers. “We have to kinda Jonah Hill, Moneyball all of it. Each event becomes its own entity, which makes the marketing strategy super niche."

"A lot of work," he added, "but worth it.”
