✔️ Big Business w/Buildings/Horsewhip/Meatwound Big Business is the perfect band to have made its name on Karl Hofstetter’s Joyful Noise record label. With just two guys at the helm, bassist Jared Warren and drummer Coady Willis (both members of the Melvins) make sludgy stoner-metal that sounds like it’s being created by an army. A newish album (July’s Command Your Weather) is a compelling reason to check out this show, and the addition of local heavyweights Meatwound and Horsewhip mean this just might be the best heavy metal club show of the year. Music Industry Panel: The Sessions Chick Corea just melted our faces during his January St. Pete show, but the world-renowned pianist apparently wants to talk at you, too. He’s the big-name speaker at this music industry panel that includes Korn drummer Ray Luzier, Ruth Eckerd Hall’s Bobby Rossi and other industry insiders. The talk is free for St. Petersburg College students and the rest of us dropouts can shell out a $5 donation to get in. The program includes a 30 minute pizza break and a 90-minute jam session with a still unannounced guest artist. More info and registration forms can be had via stpe.co/spcmira. The Dixie Dregs You are not hallucinating. This is the first time in 40 years that The Dixie Dregs’ original lineup — Steve Morse (guitar), Andy West (bass), Allen Sloan (violin), Steve Davidowski (keyboards) and Rod Morgenstein (drums) — will share the stage, and that is amazing news for fans who latched onto the jazz-fusion group back in the mid 1970s.
