✔️ Simple Minds Playing the Tampa Bay area for the first time in two decades, Simple Minds is bringing songs from a new release, Walk Between Worlds, to St. Petersburg for a set that frontman Jim Kerr says will span the breadth of the band’s career. “We try to put together a set that really runs the gamut, that goes back through our career,” he told CL. “We try to give the audience a feel for the journey that the band’s been on.” (Mahaffey Theater, St. Petersburg) INFO

✔️ The Florida Orchestra: A Child of Our Time A Michael Tippett oratorio written in the era of Nazi Germany will be performed by the Florida Orchestra, which will be joined by the Master Chorale of Tampa Bay for a performance that commemorates the 80th anniversary of Kristallnacht (AKA the “Night of Shattered Glass,” when Jewish Germans were terrorized during a pogrom that saw nearly 100 Jews murdered). African-American spirituals and selections from Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess round out this bold Friday-night program that sees encore performances in St. Petersburg and Clearwater. Eric Martin of Mr. Big w/Trixter/Steelheart If you’re the one who wants to be with Eric Martin, then Friday night is your time to shine. The lead singer of Mr. Big will be at this St. Pete sports bar where a pair of '80s rock favorites — Trixter and Steelheart — will open the show. Mr. Big has promised to record one last album before calling quits, and Martin would just take our hearts if he previewed some of that material. (Ferg’s Sports Bar and Grill, St. Petersburg) INFO

Ribfest w/Barenaked Ladies/Josh Turner/Los Lonely Boys/Chris Janson/Runaway June/more Texas Chicano-rock good guys Los Lonely Boys play an afternoon set on Sunday, but this mainstay of the Bay area festival scene kicks off on Friday with a set by Kansas’s Robby Steinhardt before the weekend welcomes acts like Josh Turner, Barenaked Ladies and Runaway June to the party. Ribfest.org has all the juicy details. MyChildren MyBride w/Secrets/Capture Unearth is is town this week for a much bigger Saturday-night show, but don’t overlook this Friday concert from MyChildren MyBride. The Alabama metalcore band spent the early part of 2008 on the road with Unearth, and on Friday MyChildren MyBride harkens back to those days by celebrating the 10th anniversary of its own, very brutal 2008 debut full-length, Unbreakable. Street Sects w/Alex Nicosia Austin-based noise and sample-deploying experimental act Street Sects supports a still-abrasive 2018 album, The Kicking Mule, which drops some of the raw pain and aggression of past releases while holding tight to the gut-punch lyrics and addictive melodic tendencies Street Sects showed off on Rat Jacket and End Position (which the band released in 2016 and 2017, respectively). (Fubar, St. Petersburg) INFO

Ace Frehley A founding member of KISS — who once got electrocuted onstage during a 1976 show at the Lakeland Center — brings his classic-rock legacy to downtown Clearwater for a show celebrating the 40th anniversary of his self-titled solo debut. (Capitol Theatre, Clearwater) INFO

✔️Tampa Am Concert w/Ortrotasce/Blestian The amateur tournament at Skatepark of Tampa has brought with it a plethora of fantastic unknown talent from around the globe, but it’s also been the bearer of great art shows and concerts.
