✔️ The Glitch Mob w/Levitation It’s been eight years since The Glitch Mob opened for Phantogram at the since-shuttered Czar in Ybor City, and it’s a bit wild to see the Los Angeles trio back in town playing caddy-corner for the kandy kids at The Ritz’s Friday-night show. The Mob’s debut LP, Drink the Sea, came out in 2010, which means that some of those in attendance were nine years old when the trio arrived on the scene. (The Ritz, Ybor City) INFO
✔️ Paul Thorn w/Bonnie Bishop Paul Thorn is bringing his latest album of gospel songs back to Clearwater, and this time the 54-year-old Tupelo songwriter has brought Bonnie Bishop along. The Grammy-winning songwriter has already checked life goals off of her bucket list, but she’s not stopping yet (Bishop’s idol, Bonnie Raitt, recorded her song “Not Cause I Wanted To” in 2012 and Bishop has also seen her song “The Best Songs Come From Broken Hearts” featured on since-cancelled ABC series Nashville). Get to downtown Clearwater early to see the opening set. (Capitol Theatre, Clearwater) INFO
Funhater w/Raine Raine/Real Dom St. Petersburg artist Keeli Ayn is already in a band with one Nadeau (Susan, who drums in Bay area punk-band Piss Ghost), but she’s joined up with another one (Chris Nadeau of Permanent Makeup) for Funhater, an incredibly loud, probably improvised noise-punk duo which finds itself atop this Friday-night bill alongside Georgia queercore act Rainé Rainé (a self-described “angry agender trans person on loop”) and Iowa experimental pop solo project Real Dom. This one is all ages and happens at the Old Northeast location of Black Crow Coffee Co. (Black Crow Coffee Co., St. Petersburg) INFO

✔️ Pigeons Playing Ping Pong Followers have been flocking to PPPP's recent shows, and guitarist Greg Ormont & Co. have been rewarding them with fan favorites (“Melting Lights,” “Whirled,” “Penguins,” “Funkijam” and “Funk E Zekiel” were delivered as a medley during a recent show) in return. (Orpheum, Ybor City) INFO
✔️ Current Joys w/Gap Girls Nick Rattigan sings and plays drums for Nevada minimalist duo Surf Curse, but he’s released music under the TELE/VISIONS and Nicholas Project moniker, too. For this show, he slips into his Current Joys outfit in order to support nostalgic 2018 LP A Different Age, which is wrought with an irony and apathy that manages to be pretty damn catchy, too. Another Nevadan, Gap Girls, plays electro-pop to open the show. (Crowbar, Ybor City) INFO
Craig Wayne Boyd You could drive to Holiday to get your country music fix with American Idol alum Josh Gracin (who is playing The Stockyard), or you could stay closer to home where another reality TV talent — 39-year-old Texas-born songwriter Craig Wayne Boyd, who won season 7 of The Voice — plays Dallas Bull in support of his 2017 album Top Shelf. Like we always remind you, Dallas Bull is where up-and-coming pop-country stars cut their teeth, so relish the chance to see them in a place not called MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre. (Dallas Bull, Tampa) INFO
Missy Raines and the New Hip When it comes to bluegrass, players don’t get much more solid than Missy Raines, who became the first female to win the IBMA Bass Player of the Year award in 1998. Raines has played with Claire Lynch and Peter Rowan, but she arrives in Ybor City with her New Hip ensemble in tow, which means that listeners will get a little jazz mixed into the Americana they’ve come to know and expect from the songwriter.
