✔️ = Critic's Pick

✔️ Gaelynn Lea The looped passes of a bow on violin strings anchor Gaelynn Lea’s 2016 NPR Tiny Desk performance of “Someday We’ll Linger In The Sun,” and her pained vocal does the rest of the damage. It’s one of the most arresting videos in the series’ history, and her fiddle — which Gaelynn, who also collaborates with Low's Alan Sparhawk in Murder of Crows, has to hold like a cello because of brittle bone disease — plays like a weapon during the rest of the impossibly emotional 23-minute concert. The Minnesotan brings her talents and charisma to The Attic on Saturday, and it’s quite possible that there won’t be a dry eye in the building when it’s all said and done. ✔️ Valor Album Release w/Achilles w/Black Pussy/Bangarang/Charles Gallagher/Rising Down Tampa composer, pagan and party-starter Achilles the Conqueror brings his new, self-produced album to life at this release/birthday party, where he’ll show fans how to destroy kingdoms (“Death Dealer”), dress properly (“GQ”) and possibly find the goddess of their dreams (“Cocoa Butter”). Read more about Achilles in our Spring Arts preview and listen to a premiere of Valor track “Prism” in a forthcoming post on cltampa.com/music. (Crowbar, Ybor City) INFO

✔️ Korby Lenker Nashville songwriter Korby Lenker collaborated with more than 30 artists to complete the songs on his seventh studio LP, Thousand Springs, and he recorded the effort at places dear to his heart. On Saturday, Lenker — who’s toured with Willie Nelson, Ray Lamontagne and Nickel Creek — brings the good vibes to Safety Harbor for a show that could very easily sell out before doors open. (Safety Harbor Art & Music Center, Safety Harbor) INFO

Tampa Bay Black Heritage Festival Gospel Night w/Todd Dulaney Todd Dulaney was drafted by the New York Mets in 2002, and while he never made it to the big leagues, the 34-year-old did find his calling hitting high notes and holy home runs as a gospel singer. Dulaney’s 2011 album Pulling Me Through was good enough to lift him to No. 1 on Billboard’s gospel charts, and he headlines this Black Heritage Festival gospel show on Saturday. (Bible Based Fellowship Church, Tampa) INFO

✔️ Butthole w/Glove/Johnny Mile & The Kilometers For the record, this show ain’t a stinker. In fact, it finds fudge-loving Nashville four-piece Butthole coming out of the basement and playing its self-titled, fun, lo-fidelity, high-volume album of garage-pop alongside new-ish St. Pete rock outfit Glove and Bay area rock and rollers Johnny Mile & The Kilometers. Bring a fiver to pay the cover, and buy a record while you’re at it, too. (Microgroove, Tampa) INFO

Zine Fest 6 w/DJ Re:Pete Now in its sixth year, St. Pete Zine Fest attracts aficionados from across the state and the country. According to founder Kelly Steele, this year's fest will boast more than 40 tables of zines and other one-of-a-kind DIY goods, as well as St. Pete's beloved mobile-goods vehicles the Bluebird Book Bus and Hello Darlin' Records. Tote bags and custom enamel pins by the 'Burg's Josh Sullivan will also be available, with proceeds going toward funding a P.O. box so Zine Fest can help enable distribution of zines on a year-round basis. Want tunes while you peruse? DJ Re:Pete spins the tunes. And of course Cage has tons of great local craft beer on tap, too. (Cage Brewing, St. Petersburg) INFO —Scott Harrell

Tweed Ride 2018 w/Mondo Diablo Scott Harrell is the CL managing editor who wrote that Zine fest blurb you read above, but he's also the guitar in St. Pete instrumental outfit Mondo Diablo, which'll play its normal, surfy 45-minute set at St. Pete's annual Tweed Ride, but not before embarking on a written-specifically-for-this-event ragtime set beforehand. (St. Petersburg Shuffleboard Club, St. Petersburg) INFO

✔️ Prawn w/Dikembe/Caravela The Hub has always been a great place to catch a show, and we’re excited to see how Prawn — a New Jersey emo outfit with a penchant for crafting punchy, complex indie rock — enjoys hearing its tunes coruscating onto a crowd of fans excited to experience the band’s 2017 album Run coming alive after Gainesville’s Dikembe opens the show. Brothers Frank and Stephen Graniero (aka Caravela) kick off the free-to-attend, kinda early (8 p.m. doors) show. (The Hub, Tampa) INFO
