✔️ Mason Jennings w/Shae Krispinsky Mason Jennings quietly released one of the best albums of his 20-year career in 2016, and while even some of his own fans missed Wild Dark Metal, you’ll be able to hear it loud and clear when the Minnesota folk hero brings it — along with the rest of his socially conscious, deep-feeling 15-piece collection of LPs and EPs — to this Ybor City listening room. Jennings always seems to tour with a strong female songwriter to play foil to his own unique tone and delivery and this time he’s tapped Bay area favorite Shae Krispinsky to open the show. Interview: Before Ybor City show, Mason Jennings waxes on being astounded by the world, his eating habits on tour and more
✔️ DJ Sandman Birthday Bash & Old School Skate Jam w/Kool DJ Red Alert/DJ Jimi-O, DJ Shizm/DJ Chase/Queen B DJ Sandman is one of Tampa hip-hop’s elder statesmen, and he’s inviting the city to his Port Tampa neighborhood for a old-school roller-skating party in celebration of his getting another year older. Pioneering Big Apple radio DJ Kool DJ Red Alert (98.7 FM, Kiss FM) headlines the family-friendly festivities. (Pattinis, Tampa) INFO
Well Strung If you’ve ever wanted to see a buncha hunks play classical and contemporary tunes while straddling big ol’ cellos, then this set from the hilariously named Well Strung is for you. Please don’t throw your underwear on the stage, OK? (It gets caught in the F-holes.) (Tarpon Springs Performing Arts Center, Tarpon Springs) INFO
Ol’ Dirty Sundays w/Roial1/DJ Ku BFFs and pretty badass DJs — Tampa’s own DJ Ku and Los Angeles’ Roial1 — are taking over the town this weekend (hide your pho, people), and while you could catch the duo at The Drynk in Hyde Park for Gasparilla, we think this end-of-the-weekend free show at Crowbar’s famed Ol’ Dirty Sundays hip-hop, funk, soul R&B and reggae party is a much better, less-vomity, option. (Crowbar, Ybor City) INFO

Uh, Kid Rock is headlining Tampa's NHL All-Star Game concert
Kid Rock Mr. Bawitdaba is grabbing his proverbial hockey stick since he's been tapped as a rather peculiar selection for the in-game entertainment at the NHL's All-Star Game. In all fairness, the once-rumored U.S. Senate candidate and famous Gods, Guns & Trump-er is one of the best live shows this writer has seen (and he's seen it twice). Read more about the show here. (Amalie Arena, Tampa) INFO
Dave Stryker Quintet He performed at the same room in 2015, and on Sunday jazz guitarist Dave Stryker returns to Ybor City in support of his latest recording, Strykin’ Ahead, which is his 28th as a leader, and which reached the No. 3 spot in the Jazz Week national radio chart. For the HCC concert, he’ll be joined by Jack Wilkins on saxophone Chris Rottmayer on piano, bassist Charlie Silva and Walt Hubbard on drums. (Mainstage Theatre at Hillsborough Community College, Ybor City) INFO
Gasparilla BMX Flatland Jam w/DJ Lungmustard An army of BMX-ers will roll into the Rialto after Gasparilla for Gasparilla BMX Flatland Jam, a money tourney in which riders will compete in Best Front Wheel, Best Back Wheel, Best Front & Back Wheel, Best Old School Trick and Best Trick contests. After-party jam at the Bro Bowl. Bonus points because a judge is DJ Lungmustard who apparently did mash-ups way before Z-Trip did. (Rialto Theatre, Tampa) INFO
