✔️ Stephen Christian w/Christian McAlhaney Last Friday, Underoath frontman Spencer Chamberlain suggested that his band and the recently revived Anberlin should play a Tampa headlining show every year. That’d be nice, but the once Winter Haven-based Anberlin is already making the most of their reunion. This show finds lead vocalist Stephen Christian and guitarist Christian McAlhaney teaming up for an extremely rare acoustic set that we suspect may dip into Christian’s Anchor & Braille material (Aaron Marsh, are you out there?) while leaning heavily on tunes Anberlin released during its 10-year run. This show is sold-out and so is tomorrow's encore. (The Attic at Rock Brothers Brewing, Ybor City)
C’s Sanga Lounge B-Day Jam w/C-Rena & Friends There are probably very few young Bay area soul singers who haven’t been counseled by Bay area R&B matriarch C-Rena. She’s joined by a host of friends at this jam session that brings together all of Rena’s favorite singers, poets and emcees. (SKD Entertainment Soundstage, Tampa) CANCELED
✔️ Postcard Scene w/Shurwood/Sunshine State/Jolly Fuckers/Spirits Down/Mr. Davis/Nickole Hanna Chewy Hemphill put on one of the first, if not the very first, shows at Fubar when it first opened in 2009, and this will be the last one that his promotions company Savage Beat will be throwing at the venue before it closes after New Year’s Eve. Hemphill got members of Bay area street-punk quintet Spirits Down to reunite for an acoustic show, reached out to Gainesville pop-punk band Sunshine State and also called upon a handful of local punk acts to help him shut the place down in style.
