✔️ The Struts w/Spirit Animal The Struts would’ve stolen the show at the band’s last Bay area appearance, but opening up for the Foo Fighters at a 20,000 capacity shed is a tall order (Dave Grohl did call the English glam-rock revivalists “the best band Foo Fighters has ever played with,” so there’s that). With a new album just under two weeks away, charismatic frontman Luke Spiller brings his band to a surprisingly still-not-sold-out Orpheum gig where Brooklyn rock and roll quartet Spirit Animal opens the show. Foundation X DJ Hurley CD Release w/Jon Ditty/Mike Mass/Acoupstix A free, all-ages hip-hop show also serves as a send-off for Bay area rapper Foundation, who is headed for Japan after his project with Swiss-born producer DJ Hurley releases a new album, More Than A Small Piece, following opening sets by Mike Mass and Acoupstix. ✔️ Hypoluxo w/MTVH1N1/Supergold Brooklyn-based psych-pop quartet Hypoluxo brings a 17-date fall tour to St. Petersburg for a free show at Green Bench in support of a new album, Running On Fence (released last month), where frontman Samuel Jacob Cogen leads his band through half an hour’s worth of dreamy indie-rock. A Ft. Lauderdale rock band, Supergold, opens the show along with weirdo Tampa pop band MTVH1N1. (Green Bench Brewing Co., St. Petersburg) INFO

Emo Night Tampa Presents Photo Fire w/Wave Coast/Charles Irwin Emo Night’s role as an incubator for up-and-coming punk, indie and emo bands adds another notch to its belt when this Sunday-night show welcomes a trio of locals including extremely fun, up-and-coming Tampa band Charles Irwin whose 2017 track “a sad song about a girl i no longer know” has racked up nearly 500K plays on Soundcloud. “I have a love hate relationship with this song, because it captivates me and gives me the goosebumps,” is how one Reddit user framed their reaction to the tune, “but at the same time it reminds me of my ex and how we can never work it out once we’re together it’s a catastrophe.” Free and all-ages, too.
