Listening to Hello Joyce always leads to an immediate release of the tension in your shoulders and a sudden desire to have a beer or take a long drag on a vape pen, and now the Tampa dream-pop outfit has unloaded the last music video from its latest release, Brother Speedo, which CL named one of its favorites from 2018.

“We felt it was time to dip our toes more into the DIY-pool,” the band told CL in an email. “We wanted to make something odd, quirky and colorful, something that represents feelings of losing one's composure, and the undying will to maintain sanity.”

The video for "Bits and Pieces" is also a sneak peak at what a new album, due late this summer or early fall, might feel like.

“Without giving too much away, our album is going to be a juicy mixed bag of diverse tunes. Simple ideas that are more textural build upon a nice motif,” Hello Joyce added. “It’ll be bold for sure… experimental, melodic — we’re looking to improve our overall sound and production with lengthier songs, more substance with lyrics, and tastier chords.”

The four-and-a-half-minute clip feels like a throwback to the days of old skate videos or early MTV and gives fans a glimpse into the goofy, undeniably odd lifestyle being practiced in the Hellp Joyce house. Check out the clip — complete with lots of scraggly facial hair, old socks and and lo-fi special effects — below.
