Lurk Records is a good home for A Bend In Time, the new album from Tampa post-punk and new wave outfit Sleeping Pills, which plays Crowbar in Ybor City on Thursday, Sept. 22.

The group—fronted by Phil Taylor (pictured above, right)—wrote the eight-track outing during the pandemic and emerged with a beach-goth-approved collection of weird guitar and dance floor-ready bass lines for fans of The Cramps, Dick Dale and Joy Division.

We’re hoping Fjshwjfe’s Kate Magruder makes it onstage for a performance of album highlight “Hole In the Heart” at this show headlined by German heavyweight of the genre Pink Turns Blue, which is on the road supporting its 2021 album, Tainted.
